Ask a recruiter what changed in the last two years and you will hear the same story: application volume went up, and application quality fell off a cliff. A single posting pulls hundreds of applicants in a day. Most of them never read the role. Some of them are not people at all.

Ask a candidate and you will hear the mirror image: they apply, and nothing happens. No response, no status, no evidence a human ever saw the resume. The application went into a pile too big for anyone to read honestly, so nobody did.

Both sides are describing the same machine. Hiring runs on noise.

How it got this loud

Job boards are paid on volume. More postings, more applicants, more activity: every incentive points toward louder. Then generative AI arrived and made applying nearly free. A motivated applicant can now produce hundreds of tailored applications an hour, and services exist to do exactly that on their behalf.

The industry's answer has been to stack filters on top: resume screeners, assessment layers, AI to read the applications that AI wrote. Screening the output of a broken pipeline is an arms race, and the recruiter is not winning it.

The filter nobody tried

Every filter in that stack asks the same question: is this application worth my time? Almost none of them ask the prior question: is this applicant a real person who is who they say they are?

That question turns out to do most of the work. When we built Talnflo, we made it the condition of entry. Every candidate passes government ID and selfie verification, with liveness detection, once at signup. An unverified profile cannot apply to anything. There is no toggle, because a marketplace where verification is optional is a job board with a badge.

What falls out of that one rule surprised even us:

  • Volume drops to human scale. A pipeline of verified applicants is a pipeline someone can actually read.
  • The data becomes trustworthy. Matching only works if the profile underneath is real. Scoring a fabricated resume precisely is just precise noise.
  • Candidates get visibility back. When applications arrive at human scale, recruiters can respond like humans. Every application on Talnflo shows its pipeline stage to the candidate, because at this volume there is no excuse for a black hole.

Signal is a two-sided deal

None of this is a favor to one side. Recruiters get applicants who are real and roles that stay searchable by the things that matter, like timezone, clearance, and actual skills. Candidates get a marketplace where being genuine is an advantage instead of a handicap, free, forever.

That is the bet behind Talnflo: hiring does not need a louder job board. It needs a quieter marketplace, and quiet starts at the door.

Talnflo is live at app.talnflo.com, for recruiters and candidates.
